Norwalk is one of the strongest tourist destinations in Fairfield County and the state of Connecticut. It's main attraction is the Maritime Aquarium, which invites visitors of all ages to become immersed in sea life through exhibits, educational programs, research cruises, and a boat building shop, it also  features an IMAX® Theater with a six story high screen. Huge, crisp images make you feel like you’re inside the action; and the 10,000-watt digital proprietary surround-sound audio system completes a total immersion movie experience.

 

SoNo also offers a traditional movie theater, Bow Tie Cinemas, Regent 8 offering the latest new releases. Other activities include: The Stepping Stone Museum for Children, Lockwood Matthews Mansion, Sheffield Island Lighthouse, and the Norwalk Museum.

 

Norwalk has a variety of celebrations and festivals such as the Norwalk Harbor Splash (May), the SoNo Arts Celebration (August), the International In-Water Boat Show, and the famous Oyster Festival (both in September).

 

With over 1,400 acres of park and shoreline land available to residents, there is plenty of space for recreation and leisure time in the great outdoors. Norwalk has numerous municipal tennis and basketball courts, soccer and baseball fields, a public golf course, and miles of paths for walking, biking and skiing, as well as a public beach. Calf Pasture and Cranbury are the largest of the city parks.
