SoNo (South Norwalk)
Historic downtown SoNo
is the perfect blend of old world charm and urban modern. Located on
the waterfront of the Norwalk harbor and centered around Washington
Street, where beautifully renovated 19th and early 20th century
buildings have been restored back to their glory. SoNo is rapidly
expanding and extending its boundaries. New mixed use developments
are to the north, along North Water Street, Ann Street and the soon
to be built District 95/7 area and to the south, along Water Street,
South Main Street and the South Norwalk Train Station area.
By day, Sono's unique
shops, boutiques and eateries bustle with local workers, shoppers
and tourist. The Maritime Aquarium and Imax Theater, located on
Water Street has an annual attendance averaging 500,000 visitors
making it one of the largest attractions in Connecticut. By night,
SoNo is known as one of the most frequented downtown entertainment
districts, with some of the hottest restaurants in the area. |
